The day I bought these I actually had no intention of purchasing them, I actually went to my local store to buy a completely different set of speakers. The Yamaha’s caught my eye because they were on display. Anyway long story short I decided to give them a try, at half the price of my targeted speakers I didn’t expect much. But I was blown out of the water by these. They really shocked me to have such a high quality at that price(See price on amazon). I spent the next 5 hours sitting in my living room pumping out my favorite songs one after another. They really gave my songs that extra kick, filling the room with a clear uncolored version of the recording. I am really impressed with these, more than I bargained for at this price and has an all round quality that just doesn’t usually come with speakers in this price range.
The Pros:
- High quality along all ranges - way better than similarly priced competitiors
- Looks modern and fits into your sitting room well
- Great for watching movies, gives high quality sound for all genres of scenes
- Very affordable, land absolutely great value for money
The cons:
- Construction of cabinet leaves a few holes in an otherwise fairy tale experience.

An in depth look at the Yamaha NS-F150:
Design
Okay so here there is a bit of a downfall, the construction of the cabinet leaves a few holes in an otherwise perfect story. They have included a wooden base that has four nonadjustable spikes coming out. This caused a slight problem for me as my carpet wasn't perfectly level although I managed this could be a sticky point for someone else. The tweeter wasn't protected except for a front grill (I am probably being a bit picky here). The port on the back was open and I could see some internal operations that do not add to the attractiveness. I am being picky here but it is my duty to deliver the bad news as well as the good.
I will say that it does have an attractive finish and fits in well in my living room, I am pretty happy with appearance. Construction leaves a little bit to be desired.
Setup and listening
After setting them up I was eager to get them going, I wasn't expecting too much in the way of all round quality, I was more anticipating the usual "strong point" of one driver way exceeding the other, which is usually the case with speakers in this price range.
As stated above I was really pleasantly shocked to find an almost perfect all round quality. Equally impressive in the high frequencies as in the low frequencies. I was using a sub woofer but I tried it without and its still more than capable without one. There are some cracks in the sounds when you go ultra high or low but goes far further than you'd expect before cracks can be heard.
The construction of the cabinet is a tiny draw back and probably contributes to the rare resonances but this is to be expected and we are still getting far more for our money than expected.
Conclusion
One of the best reviews I have done in terms of value for money, originally I didn't expect these to be on my review list but they absolutely blew me out of the water. They are genuinely way better than they need to be at that price. What is most impressive is the all roundness they provide, both great quality in the low and high ranges. If they fit into your budget they get the thumbs up from me.
